TAMIEH is dedicated to reinterpreting and improving clothing by focusing on the needs of women in their daily lives. These garments have mechanisms that make it possible to vary the look. This can be done through reversible pieces that change color or by turning a garment 180° to create a new look. Design elements such as lacing or buttons also offer the opportunity to change both the fit and the aesthetics.

3D knitting technology is used for some garments, which enables sustainable production as the pieces come out of the machine with a perfect fit and therefore no material waste. This technology also allows a tunnel with several openings to be knitted directly into the garment, through which various laces can be threaded. This versatility opens up numerous possibilities for transformation and individualization.

Combed out undercoat of dogs, also called Chiengora. The two founders of Chiengora want to save this previously unused resource from going to waste and give it a new lease of life.

Chiengora by Yarnsustain produces luxurious and particularly soft wool yarns and products in Germany from the undercoat of dogs. In this way, knitwear designer and sustainability scientist Ann Catrin Schönrock and textile engineer Franziska Uhl save a previously unused resource from the garbage can, which is produced during the daily grooming of dogs, and use it to create innovative, globally unique products that are produced in a sustainable manner.

In addition to preserving traditional craftsmanship by producing hand-knitted yarns in Germany, the founders have developed Chiengora®, the world’s first industrially spun yarn on the market made from dog wool. And further innovations, such as yarns made from cat wool or horsehair, are already in development.
All of the company’s projects generate direct donations for animal welfare projects. This is done through a unique crowdsourcing network in which dog owners, breeders and dog salons donate the undercoat produced during grooming to the non-profit organization Rohstoffe retten e.V.. The proceeds from the sale of the raw wool to their own label or industry partners are donated to animal welfare projects, such as Birkenhof e.V., which enables dogs from poor husbandry conditions to lead a species-appropriate life.
