TAMIEH focuses on the needs of the modern woman and offers clothing that is versatile and adaptable thanks to smart design features and innovative knitting technology.

TAMIEH is dedicated to reinterpreting and improving clothing by focusing on the needs of women in their daily lives. These garments feature mechanisms that allow for varying the look. This can be achieved through reversible panels that change the color, or by rotating a garment 180° to create a new look. Design elements such as lacing or buttons also offer the possibility of altering both the fit and the aesthetic.

Some garments are made using 3D knitting technology, which enables sustainable production because the pieces come off the machine with a perfect fit, eliminating material waste. This technology also makes it possible to knit a tunnel with multiple openings directly into the garment, through which various laces can be threaded. This versatility opens up numerous possibilities for customization and personalization.

Combed-out undercoat from dogs, also known as Chiengora. The two founders of Chiengora want to save this previously unused resource from the trash and give it a new lease on life.

Chiengora by Yarnsustain produces luxurious and exceptionally soft wool yarns and products in Germany using dogs’ undercoats. In this way, knitwear designer and sustainability scientist Ann Catrin Schönrock and textile engineer Franziska Uhl are saving a previously unused resource—generated during the daily grooming of dogs—from the trash and transforming it into fully sustainably produced, globally unique, and innovative products.
In addition to preserving artisanal traditions through the production of hand-knitting yarns in Germany, the founders have developed Chiengora®, the world’s first industrially spun yarn made from dog wool. And further innovations, such as yarns made from cat wool or horsehair, are already in development.
All of the company’s projects directly generate donations for animal welfare initiatives. This is achieved through a unique crowdsourcing network in which dog owners, breeders, and dog grooming salons donate the undercoat collected during grooming to the nonprofit organization Rohstoffe retten e.V. The proceeds from the sale of the raw wool to the company’s own label or industry partners are donated to animal welfare projects, such as Birkenhof e.V., which provides dogs rescued from poor living conditions with a species-appropriate life.
